Boycott Ebay: Changes Bad for Everyone

This is a summary of the changes Ebay is making. This shows how the changes have a negative on the marketplace, and how it will negatively impact both buyers and sellers.

Are you aware of the new policy changes being implemented by eBay? These changes will dramatically affect every member. Here are the some of the changes in a nutshell.

Listing fee decrease down an average of 5%, selling fee up by as much as 67%. This will mean sellers will have to raise their prices to cover the higher fees being imposed.

Best Match - Only those with near perfect feedback and DSR (detailed seller ratings) will come up on search. The rest will be buried.

Sellers will no longer be able to leave anything but positive feedback for buyers, while buyers can still leave negative. This means bad buyers will come out of the woodwork and the unethical buyer will be able to ruin the reputation that so many decent sellers have worked long and hard to accomplish.

PayPal will be able to withhold the payment sellers receive from the buyer, for up to 21 days. Forcing sellers to ship for free. Most of us cannot afford to do this. Many sellers are saying that if this goes into effect, they will not ship for 21 days. Do you want to wait that long for your purchase, all because PP is holding the money?

This change, if it goes through will hurt all of us. As a group we are uniting to Boycott eBay from February 18th to February 25th. No buying, no listing, no bidding, no selling. We want to get them where it hurts, their numbers, and make eBay the trading place it used to be. Where buyers and sellers are not pitted against one another. You can read the entire list of changes in the eBay message center, in a letter from Bill Cobb.

This is not just me, we are thousands strong. There is a forum on the discussion boards, seller central, titled SIGN THE PLEDGE _ NO SALES FEB 18-25! Please check it out. I hope you will join, whether a buyer, seller or both. It will benefit us all in the long haul.
