The serious student who plans to enter the world of business someday will have to use his school years to develop traits and skills that the business arena demands of all those who would be successful in it. The student should recognize, for examples, the importance of neat clothing and good grooming. He should understand that if he wants to find and hold an office job, he must learn how to express himself in a clear and precise way. He must adopt new words, which-through the aid of his dictionary he will learn to use in an effective and correct manner. He must learn to spell and to structure and punctuate sentences. The alert student who wants a good office job must learn to act as well as look the part. While correct clothes and good grooming are helpful, straight posture, right attitude and pleasant voice can be just as helpful the impression sought is simply one of quite dignity.
Few employers will want to buy a well-wrapped package that has but little value in it. So, the more training a student can get in skills and knowledge that are peculiar to the world of business, the better his chances of employment will be; and a basic course in typing and computer operations might open the door for a broader and better opportunity.
