It seems that a lot of people don't have a clue about looking for the jobs, that they will be suited to do, and more so, they are completely un-prepared for Job Interviews, and what can happen in these job Interviews.
For the many people who don't understand how this all works, I'm going to try and lay it out for you, so that you understand every aspect to not only finding a job, but landing it as well.
The first step might be in looking in local Newspapers, and trying to find a job that not only suits your tastes, but you can actually do that job. Before rushing out the door, and going to the Company you have chosen, you have to ask yourself a few very important questions. These would be as follows.
- Am I really ready to go to work and if so, can I do the job I am about to apply for?
- If I have children, do I have a babysitter I can count on, so if I get a call to go to work tomorrow, that person will take my kids and baby-sit them?
- What do I know about the Company, where I will apply for a job?
- Does it say anything in the Newspaper ad about how much they pay?
- What kind of money am I looking for, and what kind of money will I accept?
- What kind of benefit package would suit me?
- Do I have the proper attire to go for a job interview?
- Is my Resume up to date and if not, bring it up to date
- How far is this job from where I live, and is it worth the travel time?
- If there is any information that I need about this company, where can I find it?
Interesting questions that people should know before going out for any job. More so don't leave things to the last minute, get your house and children in order, if you are a single parent, so if you do get the call to go in for an Interview, you can tell the person who calls, you are ready to go and meet them. The most important thing you really have to remember is that you quite probably aren't the only one applying for this job, so not only do you want to be on time for any interviews, you want to be properly dressed, and have your Resume in your hand. The more you can find out about the company you are about to approach for a job, the better equipped you will be when it comes time to meet either a Head Hunter, or an Interviewer.
On your Resume, the one thing you never put on a Resume, is that you were fired from any job, a real no no, for the perspective employer you are about to meet.
Do dress properly, that means no jeans. No sloppy pants that haven't seen an iron in a very long time. Go to any job interview dressed as neatly as possible. If you have tattoo's do make sure they are covered, as some of the older generation frown on people who have tattoos. Your hair should be neat and your shoes clean. Again, many Interviewers frown on a person who doesn't appear to be neat. If a person shows up for an interview in torn jeans, I'd bet my last cent you won't get hired because the Interviewer will ask him or herself this question. If this person shows up for an Interview looking like this, what pride will they take in our company? Guaranteed this person will put an x on you're Application, and you wont' get hired. Head Hunters or Interviewers like to think that the person they are about to Interview has more qualities than they show on a Resume. They usually see this in how you dress. How clean you're fingernails are, if you are a woman, and if you are a man, how clean your hands are, and your clothing as well.
If you are a woman, and going for a Job Interview don't wear the strongest Perfume that you can find, if you have to wear Perfume do wear something soft smelling, to the nose. The same thing can be said for men, don't wear Cologne that will rock the Interviewers socks off. He or she may think you are in need of a bath, and again an X will be put on your Application. Dress smartly, look clean, and don't smell of harsh colognes, and Perfumes.
You are called in for an Interview. Let the person conducting the Interview do all the talking, but when that person asks you a question, don't ever roll your eyes, and don't rub your hands together, it's a sure sign of weakness. Do sit straight in the chair provided to you, and answer all questions that you can. If there is something that you don't understand, don't be shy to ask what that means, as the Interviewer will more appreciate you asking that question, rather than avoiding it.
