Model Tips 101

Break into the Fashion and Modeling Industry.

  1. Have High Self-Esteem:

It's important to be confident and have a high self-esteem in this business in order to be successful. The way you think about yourself will effect the first impressions you make. First impressions always last!
  2. Know all the Terms:

As a model it is important to be knowledgeable about the business you are in! You should know the difference between being a hi-fashion, print or a commercial model. Know the difference between the Cat walk and the Trot. Keep in mind that a model should always think tall.
  3. Keep Up With the Fashion Trends:

Spend time reading magazines so that you will stay in the know with the current fashion trends. However, do research on different time periods, like the 50's or the 70's and the contributions each decade made to Fashion. Learn how to create and have your own style. That way you will always stand out and be remembered!
  4. Know Your Icons:

Know the models that came before you, such as Iman, who paved the way for many runway models today like the noted Tyra Banks. Understand that your journey will leave a trail for others after you. Think about what you want to leave behind and live accordingly.
  5. Know How to Acquire an Agent:

An agent is someone who can represent you either for Runway, Print, or Commercial Modeling. Obtain a Sag list and know all the agencies in New York, Los Angeles, Europe and Canada.
