What makes a successful entrepreneur? In this thought-provoking article we look to men such as Einstein, Edison, Darwin, Lincoln, Confucius and Aristotle to reveal the answer.

Are entrepreneur's born or created? Is it nature or nurture? These are the questions that have been debated for hundreds of years. By looking at the most successful people in history, we may start to understand the future of entrepreneurship.

Research would suggest that entrepreneurs have certain character traits that allow them to be "enterprising" and that through knowledge and experience; they test and apply principals that make them successful and wealthy.

The word entrepreneur is taken from the French verb "entreprendre", meaning "to undertake". The "entre" section of the word is taken from the Latin word meaning "between".

Basically, the definition of the word is someone who seeks to capitalize on new and profitable endeavours or business - usually with considerable initiative and risk!

So can you really master the secrets of the most successful men and women in history and take all the best character traits and knowledge they acquired to become powerfully successful?

I believe that anyone can be an entrepreneur as long as they approach it with the right mindset and understand the power of surrounding themselves with people who are specialists in their chosen field.

By modeling the great geniuses and masters of all time - people like Emerson, Edison, Darwin, Lincoln, Confucius, Plato, Aristotle, Napoleon, Ford and Einstein, to name a few, you can draw great wisdom and understanding of the success mindset.

These men had incredible insight into what it takes to be successful and they all recognised that their dominating thoughts and desires had an effect on the direction of their life and the level of success they could acquire.

They were all men with great faith; they took chances and believed wholeheartedly in their destiny. Entwined within these three important traits was also the ability to have great courage, tolerance and belief.

By mastering these traits for yourself she believes that you can attract to you, through your own thoughts and desires, the ability to achieve anything you want, in your life or business.

The one thing that these great men did learn was to trust their "hunches" or sixth sense. In business, she explains, this is often overlooked or considered weaker skills, but the great minds recognised very quickly that any situation that aroused the emotions and caused their heart to beat faster, generally kicked the sixth sense into action.

As an example, have you ever experienced a near-miss accident while driving? Or perhaps seen someone miraculously "saved from death" by what could only be described as an "invisible force"? If you have, you will have experienced the power of the sixth sense.

The sixth sense is a subject that will be of great interest to anyone who wishes to acquire great wealth. It was something certainly used by Thomas A. Edison who used the power of the sixth sense to guide him in the development of his inventions. He certainly had no human experience or knowledge when working on the moving picture machine or the talking machine.

So what is the sixth sense? On the seas they would have called it "dead reckoning" - the ability to go with your gut instincts and have trust in a positive outcome. Another way of looking at this is the power of the imagination, the hidden subconscious mind.

Research into the six sense and its powerful application shows that rarely do people start using it before the age of forty. It is something that requires practice and is developed slowly over time. The use of meditation, serious quite time and self-reflection assist greatly in sixth sense development.

Fear is another thing that holds the vast majority of people back from achieving greatness in their lives. Fear really is the enemy of your soul, in different guises. It is the fear of poverty which keeps millions of people poor and causese the greatest business depressions of all time. But fear is not real, it only exists in your mind.

The precursers to fear are three enemies - doubt, indecision and fear and the interesting thing about these three "ghosts of the mind", is that you usually where you find one, the other two will be closely behind, because the seedling of the "weed" fear is indecision.

If you are indecisive about anything in life, it won't be long before fear sets in. Likewise, any amount of doubt, in turn will lead to indecision.

As babies, we are born with only two fears in life - being dropped and loud noises. As we develop into adulthood, these two basic fears tend to die away, and are replaced with six other fears - poverty, criticism, ill health, loss of love, old age and death.
