    A term for an investor that is uneducated and/or unsophisticated.

  3. Big Uglies

  5. Boomernomics

    A baby boomer using a strategy of investing in companies that cater to baby boomers.
  6. Brain Drain

    Refers to the movement of educated or talented individuals from one nation or region to another.
  7. Clean Your Skirts

    This is when a trader makes call to confirm details for security trades.
  8. Cockroach Theory

    The term used when a company reveals bad news.
  9. Cook The Books

    When a corporation falsifies their financial information.
  10. Cookie Jar Accounting

    When a company uses reserves from good years to cover losses incurred in bad years.
  11. Dead Cat Bounce

    A temporary improvement during an extended decline, after which the market continues to fall.
  12. Dialing and Smiling

    Cold calling.
  13. Diworsification

    Adding to your portfolio in a way that the risk/return is worsened.
  14. Eat Your Own Dog Food

    When a company uses its own products for daily operations.
  15. J.Lo (Jennifer Lopez)

    Used in technical analysis and refers to a rounding bottom in an equities price pattern.
  16. Kippers (Kids in Parents' Pockets Eroding Retirement Savings)

    Refers to adult children who have completed school and should be working, but are still living at home with their parents. The parents have to plan for retirement and cover their own expenses while taking care of their children.
  17. Leprechaun Leader

    A corporate manager or an executive that is perceived as a mischievous and elusive creature and is said to possess buried treasures of money and gold. Just like a Leprechaun.
  18. Long Jelly Roll

    An option strategy combining two call and two put options, each with different expiration dates.
  19. Macaroni Defense

    To prevent a takeover, a company will issue many bonds that must be redeemed at a high price. This discourages a takeover due to the high cost involved.
  20. Mothballing

    When a company has an unused production facility that is kept ready in case it needs to be used.
  21. Nervous Nellie

    A nervous investor that isn't completely comfortable with the risks associated with investing.
  22. One Night Stand Investment

    Buying a security for the long term, but then panicking and selling it the next day.
  23. Poop

    People with insider information.
  24. Santa Claus Rally

    A surge in the price of stocks that commonly occurs during the week between Christmas and New Year's.
  25. Stripper

    A homeowner that strips the equity out of their home through mortgage refinancing then spends all of the money on consumer goods.
