Mind Focus

This article articulates mind management techniques which enables an individual in the process of goal setting and goal Achievement.

The objective of life is to achieve and to achieve goals that have been held dear to one's heart. Focus is required when one sets for himself a short term or a long term goal. The tools used to achieve one's objectives are the mind and the intellect. It is essentially the mind that drives one to desire .The desire is of the nature that the mind lives, feels and tastes that goal to such an extent that one feels that he needs to get the physical equivalent of the sensations that one experiences on imagining the aftermath of a Goal.

Thus mind is the singular instrument which drives a person into action. However the use of mind to achieve ones target has to be a well directed and well disciplined. If the idea is not incubated well with the aid of the intellect and if one does not control the mind from going berserk the end is most often not met. The mind is an amazing partner to work with but usually a misguided one. It requires the intellect to analyze a situation and a person needs to learn the art of creatively using the mind. One of the most preferred techniques suggested by Management Gurus and prolific leaders is the act of emptying the mind before the start of an activity and continuing to perform this act time and again during the whole process of Goal achievement. This actually helps one to be in a grounded state and also enables one to opt for pragmatic solutions rather than going for options which are a result of impulsive thinking. The process of emptying the mind is a very simple exercise.

It is a dual pronged process. One is to get ones attention away from the goal for some time by engaging in some activity that does not remind one of the actual Goal. The only condition is that one needs to be physically involved rather than be engaged in a passive occupation, something like cooking or trying to draw or writing down whatever comes to one mind. This is a preparatory step which then takes one to the next step which allows the mind to settle down and positioned to meet the challenge. It involves focusing the mind on some aspect like on a personal God or just on counting numbers from one to thousand with eyes closed. One can practice this everyday for 20 minutes .As one gets adept in this skill one would notice that the mind scatter reduces and helps one to concentrate with pin pointed attention since intense concentration on the job at hand is the real key to success.
