As I was reading the paper today I came across this add for a supplement that is supposed to help with prostrate enlargement. After reading the article I decided to call and see what they had to say. I did so because they offeresd a free sample and if it worked I would surely purchase it.
When will I ever learn? I'm sure many of you have come across this same devious method of getting your money. The harshness of the matter is it's perfectly legal.
For those of you who have never answered one of these ads let me tell you how it works. When you call they repeat the information in the ad assuring you that it works or will do as advertised. Then the pitch; you send them x amount of dollars for a week, month or more supply. If you find the product doesn't do as they say they will refund your money. This is not a free sample you say, well since they are offering to refund your money if not satisfied they contend you are sampling the product for free.
Now the real racket to this comes when you try to get your refund. If you have not followed the program exactly they contend you did not use the product correctly and therefore they are not libel for the refund. Of course when you made the purchase they told you all you had to do was return the product for a refund.
Now let's say you sent them $100.00, you used the product up and got little or no results so you want a refund. You contact the company by phone and tell them to send you your money. They will first try to get you to try another supply because the first may not have been enough, or they will tell you the time has expired for the refund. They may even tell you that they are sending you a refund.
Now you sit and wait 14 days, a month maybe two and you don't here from them. You call again and this time you get someone new. They look in the file(supposedly) and can't find a record of your purchase. Maybe they find the record and show it was sent to be refunded and it must have gotten lost. Either way you still don't have your money and guess what, you're not going to get it. Do the math, do you think they haven't thought this out.
Are you going to hire a lawyer that will cost you $100.00 plus to get back $100.00 and then the lawyer gets a percent of what is recovered. Not unless your name is stupid.
Of course you could report them to the BBB but they probably have been on their list for some time now. But like most of us you didn't check in advance. So you're out a $100 and your time and frustrations, did you learn a lesson.
In my case I hung up the phone before I ordered anything. I figured if it was as good as they say it was my doctor would know of it. I guess I'll put up with the nightly trips to the bathroom.
