To have a company, you must sell products and service. Some business people have excellent products and services, but they don't earn any money because they don't know how to sell. Some peoples products and services that might not be as good often can make more money because they know how to sell.
In the literary world, for example, you have some writers who ar mediocre, but their books sell because they know how to sell. Other writers who know they are better writers wonder why their works don't sell, but these writers although they are better writers don't know how to sell their books and don't know how to sell themselves either. Of course, some of these writer just prefer to write. Then, of course, they shouldn't complain if their books don't sell. These types of writers can hire others, however, who are excellent sales people to help them to market their books via bookstores and/or affiliate programs. They can hire people who are better sales person than themselves. They can also write in the names of companies and businesses and hire sales professionals to sell their company and business publications. This is an especially excellent form of selling books for those writers who don't like to sell themselves, but just want to sell books. Writing in the name of a business or a company is excellent for these types of writers. Plus, not all writers are popular and charismatic sorts.
If you have products and services to sell and know you have excellent products and services but are not good sales people, and not good at selling yourself, then you must hire others.
On the inventors reality show, these inventors had to learn how to sell their products and to sell themselves. Their personalities and stories are as important to these types of shows as the invention. However, there are a lot of inventors, writers, business people who don't have the personality of sales persons, but they have excellent products. That's why business owners hire sales people and sales pros and professional publicists.
It's great if you're a business person and an excellent sales person also. Well-rounded business people are great. On The Apprentice, Donald Trump's show, business people are given all the different tasks to find out if they are well-rounding business professionals. They have to prove that they know how to do everything in business, and that they have to be able to personally do all of these things. It's great if you have well-rounded business people like Donald Trump himself who appear to have mastered every aspect of business including selling themselves.
Nevertheless, business people also can hire others who are masters of the areas that they are not masters of. These are also excellent business professionals. For example, perhaps you're only a master at inventing products, but not selling yourself or the products. Then, certainly, it's acceptable for you to hire other people who are excellent at selling themselves and products to work with you and your company. If you are interested in learning how to do these things yourself, then you can certainly learn from these people. But business professionally do not have to do all of this themselves. For example, you have business people who own companies but hire others to manage their companies. Even Donald Trump with all of his companies, even though he no doubt knows how to do all of the things you do in business, hires others to manage his 100s companies. He however as the business pro that he is supervises and decides who to hire. This is the same with Oprah or Martha Stewart or these other celebrity business professionals. It is the same with many non-celebrity business types who know the areas of business where they are the masters and know when and how to hire others who have business mastery greater than theirs.
So if you are not yourself a sales professional, then you should hire those who have mastered the art of selling.
