How to Become a Model

The steps you need to take to become a model. It is easier than you think!

Let me start off by saying, “if you dream it you can do it.” Modeling is an art and many people posses the foundation to mold themselves into the perfect sculpture. However perfection is in the eye of the beholder. All models are not thin and tall. The great thing about our culture today is that many characteristics are considered beautiful and all of us have at least one good quality.

How to get Photo shoots

All green models (just starting off) should realize that the first thing you need to do is advertise yourself and the way you do this is by having photo shoots. It's very simple, all you need to do is find photographers in your area that are just starting off too. You might think that this is going to be difficult or I have no idea where to start finding these people. Well, your solution is Model Mayhem . This site is FREE and allows you to contact other people in your area. I consider it to be like Myspace for models searching for work. You have to be accepted and the way you do this is by submitting a photo. They don't judge your photo, but they want to make sure you're for real about your work before they accept you.

Once you are accepted just start networking. Talk to people who's work you admire and try to get TFCD (Time For CD). The great thing about this site is that you can get further advice and get your name out there. I would say that almost all models have an account or know of this site. The networking possibilities are endless for you here.

Make use of your good qualities

If you have beautiful eyes; focus on your eyes in a photo shoot. If you have great facial features don't let your hair get in the way of those characteristics. Bring your true beauty out. Don't be shy; photographers want you to be energetic and quick. Practice poses before you get to the shoot and be ready to be there for awhile. Some shoots have hair and make-up supplied for you, but if you are just starting out then you will most likely have to bring your own clothing and have make-up/hair already completed.

You Can Do It

I went through this process myself and found myself getting photo shoots left and right. If I can do it then so can you. Dont doubt yourself and keep a positive attitude! Good luck!!!

I used to be a model and still do photoshoots, occasional shows etc. Surely it would be responsible to warn all young females (and males) reading this, that there is a vast amount of people out there waiting and ready to pounce on the inexperienced model.

Photographers who ask for money to do photoshoots which are never viewed by anyone at all. Agents who claim to be able to find work, who are merely con artists... and the list goes on.

Setting out, a model has to first find a good agent who knows exactly how to get the best for them. Agents are worth their weight in gold. The best thing is, REAL agents don't ask for a penny until you get paid.

If you've got the talent, don't waste it on things and people who never can deliver. Setting out as a model shouldn't be costly at all(maybe apart from the initial photos) . The hardest thing is finding good representation. When this is done, you get paid, you do not pay!
