Having a successful Internet business is the final goal of the online entrepreneur. Unfortunately, statistics show that most Internet businesses never make any real money.
Making money online isn't easy! It takes a great deal of time, effort, patience and requires a total, almost obsessive commitment. You have to be passionate about your business and have a sincere desire to succeed. Anything less will be a complete waste of your time and will most likely result in failure.
You must also temper your expectations--success isn't going to happen overnight. There will be many challenges along the way and a great learning curve to overcome. Keep in mind anything worth having is worth working toward and it never comes easy. Just like starting any business there will be many long days and very long nights. However, persistence is key and if you plan each step very carefully, you can reasonably expect to reach your ultimate goal of having a successful online business.
The greatest challenge you'll ever face is fear. Fear of failing. Fear is putting your faith in all that is negative and is the downfall of every aspiring entrepreneur. Don't let fear control your decision making! Be positive. Be persistent.
Do a little research and read some interviews with successful Internet entrepreneurs and you'll see that although each has their own angle on making it in the online market, they also share some common characteristics.
Set Your Goals
Set a series of short term goals. Don't aim too high as it's very discouraging when you miss the mark. Short term goals are the way to go. Eventually you will reach your ultimate goal. Make sure to write your goals down. Committing them to paper is the first step to success. Read some Tony Robbins!
Be Persistent and Consistent
Strive everyday to accomplish something! It's like learning to play a musical instrument-you have to practice everyday to master it. Just make sure you get something done everyday. Maybe if you are new to the concept of making money online, a rank beginner, you might find great satisfaction in simply learning how to paste Google Analytics code into your web pages. That in itself is worth staying up all night to accomplish. Don't go to bed until you learn how to add a link to an article you wrote. Tough stuff for newbies! Right?
Be Self-Disciplined
Hey, this is your business not a vacation from life! If you worked hard for other people you should work twice as hard for yourself. Don't watch the TV when you work. Keep the radio off. Don't answer your phone. Just work.
Be Self-Motivated
Find ways to stay motivated. Keep your eye on the prize. There are some terrific motivational book out there. Tony Robbins is my favorite. Stay motivated by looking at what you've accomplished so far. In the beginning write down your goals and then cross them off when you achieve them. So have lots of little goals. They all count.
Have a Positive Attitude
Your attitude is one of the most important factors that will determine your success. Your attitude will either guarantee your success or guarantee your failure. If you have a positive attitude and believe in yourself above all else, you will succeed.
You Must Be Organized
Create a list of all the things you want to accomplish during the day. This will give you an organized approach to each day.
You Must Learn to Pay Attention to Detail
If you don't pay attention to detail then you will become unorganized and you can't have a successful business if you are unorganized.
Running your own Internet business is one of the toughest things you'll ever do. But there's lots to be learned from it that can be applied to many areas of life. It's possible to be successful but you will have your ups and downs and it's a constant learning experience. Find a model to use as your own template. Don't try to do everything yourself.
