Auction Online: The Basic Rules for a First Transaction

You just find the object of your dreams? The principle for buying is very simple: you have to propose the highest bid at the close of the sale. The process is straightforward: you enter the auction and set the maximum price you can afford. The information remains confidential and the bidding is done automatically. No need to outbid until the last minute, you'll immediately outclassed by the bidders that have defined highest thresholds of bid. It took exercise for you to objectively assess the value of an object, and not to succumb to the phenomenon of herding competition: the more an item is subject to a high number of bids, more Bidders will be ready to outbid… Leave the auction and let happen, it will prevent you from bitter disappointments!

Common Sense and Simplicity

Selling on online auction site has a big advantage: you connect to thousands and even millions of people. This allows sales of a wide variety of objects which are specialized the unique: with a little luck you may sell to someone. Technically it is very simple: you are guided a step by step through all stages of the creation of your account, the payment methods you accept, through the publication of your text and possibly your photos. Put a announcement and at least one picture, but if the only photo you have does not improve the value of your product, then it is better to not publish the picture. In all cases, a detailed narrative description of product is your best bet: put yourself in the place of the buyer and ask yourself what information he needs.

You will need a valid email address for your entry to the site: you will also receive questions that buyers may ask. Check your mailbox regularly during the bid.

Secure Transaction

A transaction on auction sites online is never entirely secure, in the event of a disaster, things can take a long time to solve. However, several methods can be done to avoid trouble. See the profile of the seller or the buyer to whom you are dealing. If his profile has only few information, contact him, for example by questioning on the product. If you decide to buy, there are modes of payment relayed to a third party agency who takes care of your cash payment and then pay the seller, usually about ten days after your payment. If in the meantime you have not received the item or that it does not comply with the agreement, you may report to the third body that will block the payment pending resolution of the dispute. If you are a seller, expect to receive the payment (or confirmation from the third party) before sending your item, your bank can contact the issuing bank for the viability of the transaction, but some banks do not have access to this request.

14 Tips For E-Commerce Success

Begin with a specific goal in mind of what you are flipping for. Some people enjoy selling online because it helps them support their own online shopping habits. These people get really good at comparison shopping when they buy gifts, electronic gadgets, and collectibles and realize that they can make a profit by reselling the products they like and raising the price on their website. Well-known comparison shopping sites are: Pricegrabber , MySimon , and Bizrate

If you plan on selling online to start earning extra monthly income, don't plan on quitting your day job any time soon! Educate yourself about the various auction and online selling websites on the Internet and start slowly. Have a 30 day plan of how many items to list per week (start modestly!), then a 60 day plan, then a 90 day plan, and so on.

Have a minimum profit margin (ROI) or dollar amount you want to get back per transaction. A lot of times, you will hear so-called e-commerce gurus say they made $20,000 a month selling stuff online and then they try to convince you that you can do it in a month! What they don't tell you is how much of that revenue did they get to keep? Know EXACTLY how much profit you make on each item you sell. The littlest cost can eat into your profit (shipping, packaging, stamps, etc...)

Seek trends, seasons, & price points for hot products in different categories. Stick with one or two products you know really well. Find out what is the most people are willing to pay for it (buyers love collectibles or exclusive editions of something) and work that niche to death. Realistically, your top sellers will typically be one or two items in a very specific category.

If you start noticing some items selling more than others, sell the ones that sell and STOP trying to sell duds! This may be common sense, but you would be surprised with how many sellers do not follow this tip because of their brand loyalty or it's their favorite product and they think EVERYONE should love it as much as they do. Just because you like it and would buy it doesn't mean everyone else will. Or at least not from you.

Always get tracking information and insurance for packages you ship. As reliable as shipping companies are, they still can make mistakes every once in a while, and the customer can receive their item damaged, late, or not at all. Also, there are some scrupulous customers out there that get their package and tell you they haven't received it and they want their money back. If you do not have proof of shipment or insurance to back up your story, you are going to have to eat that cost.

Make a paper trail for each transaction and keep receipts for everything related to what it took to ship and package your items. Even though most seller websites can track your transactions online, you should have a printed copy of receipts, invoices, bank statements, shipping forms, etc… This information is your backup in case online data gets “lost”. You will also want to use it to manage your bookkeeping and at tax time.

Double check comparing apples with apples. Oftentimes, shoppers are very specific about the kind of product they want to buy online, and the wrong SKU or Model number can mean headaches with returns, complaints, etc...

Have enough cash flow for purchases, shipping, and handling. This is a common misnomer for first-timers and even experienced e-sellers. Just because you make a sale, doesn't mean you have time to wait for the money and then ship. You should already have a system in place that is ready to make the purchase or ship the product immediately so you will garner a good reputation.

Have at least 2 or 3 reliable suppliers to fulfill your orders. If you are a drop-ship flipper, you need reliable, consistent sources of wholesalers that can ship out what you sell quickly and have great customer support in case things turn sour with your customer. Good wholesale reseller sites are: Worldwide Brands , and Doba.

Do your best to deliver any order within 4 to 14 business days nationally. Why the time window? Because depending on how remote your customer lives, it is entirely possible that it will take that long to reach them. As a general rule, even the US Postal service second class can get your package somewhere in 2 weeks. If the package is international, you can allow yourself 21 days. If longer than that for any package, you need to contact your shipper and give them the tracking information. If it is lost, refund your customer as soon as possible and get your money back.

Have backup internet and email access. If you are the average user, you probably only get on the internet 1-2 hours a day, but a serious seller will constantly need to be in communication with customers or potential customers. If you do not have reliable service at home, have a way you can get on the internet at least during normal business hours.

Have multiple e-commerce identities. If you are planning on becoming a Power seller (generating thousands of dollars every month), you probably have multiple identities and websites selling your products. Learn the best way to market yourself and your products so they will buy from you and not the next guy.

Wait at least 24 hours from the time an order is made to ship that item. I may get a lot of flack for this tip, but I have found in my experience a few buyers who change their minds after they make a purchase - it is usually because they find a better price elsewhere, or have buyer's remorse. In order to save yourself the time and effort and headache of having the customer send you the product back, wait and see if they want to cancel their order.

Tips for Starting an Online Business

"If you code it, they will come". It's an adapted philosophy, but a realistic one none the less. Starting a business, online or not, is a serious undertaking. The question: "Should I start a business?" is a respectable question, but unfortunately, an incorrect one. "Should" = uncertainty, uncertainty in the business world is the first step towards failure. There is no pussyfooting around the issue of quitting your job and being your own boss. And the remediable tasks that may have been bestowed upon you at you're regular work can not cloud you're judgment when you are deciding to open your own business. You will be doing all the work!

Have I scared you enough? Let's talk about the first steps:

First off, if you are 100% serious about starting a business, specifically an online one, I congratulate you. You have already laid down the foundation. The things you must remember about running ANY business, just starting out, or being a seasoned pro are these:

Never lose your determination

Set goals

Be realistic

NEVER QUIT

It's simple in the sense of saying, but almost impossible to stick by in the beginning.

It's a proven fact that most businesses close their doors within the first year. A lot of it has to do with poor financing, unrealistic goals, or a lack of interest. Keep this in mind when you are struggling through the first year.

Since you are utilizing an online business, there are a number of positives and negatives in terms of the first steps in making you're business a successful one.

Positive

Know you're business. Is it retail based, service, etc?

Know you're product. What are you selling or offering?

Know you're customer. Who are you selling to? What age group, Gender, nationality?

Negatives

Don't be biased. Never market to one particular group of people

Don't pay outrageous hosting fees for you're website

Make site readable and easy to follow

The last one sounds easy, however, it's not. This one takes a while to tweak, and since you are just starting out, you may want to add an e-mail ability that allows users to write comments about the site itself. What do they want changed, added? Remember, the site is for the customer, you may think it looks horrible, but the overall site construction should be a representation of what you're customers want. Start out with a site template, work from there.

I hope these steps can help you understand the process you are going to be getting into. I have complete respect for people who are wishing to break the chains of traditional workmanship and forge their own path. I did it.

Home Hunting Tips

Choose a spacious living areas with expansive views from the window that extend your home space. It's nice to live in a place where you can relax and feel free. Views are one of the important things to consider in choosing a house. You will feel sick if are surrounded by squatters and factories in your area.

Find a house that is accessible in schools, shopping centers, public transport, and not very far from your work, do not buy a house that is located in the middle of the farm, on the top of the mountain because it is not practical. You thought you ca save money, no you're not and besides living in place that is very far from a neighbor are quite dangerous.

Look for the best value for you and your family. Set aside the name of a village, subdivision, and condominium units in buying a house because developers normally charge a premium for their name, yet some offer lower prices but with the same features and benefits. As long as the place is good, safe and the price is not too expensive, It ca do.

Know the building details, safety and security of the family is one of our concerns when choosing a house. Does it have enough fire exit, back-up power, maintenance services and the like. High cases of accidents at home are reported everyday because some of the house has no safety facility.

When you visit your prospective house bring with you your family. Remember, you are not the only one who is going to live there. Each of the family members has the right to give an opinion about the house that you are going to buy. It is better to have a house that everybody like.

Six Methods for the Beginning Real Estate Agent You Can Use to Communicate Your Services

As the first three to six months are the most important in getting yourself known as a real estate agent, it is important that the community and the surrounding area know who you are and what services you have available for their benefit.

The six methods to focus on for an efficient marketing campaign include: personal contact, business cards, advertising, sponsorship, give-aways, and a monthly newsletter.

The first aspect to a successful real estate career in the first few months is to make yourself known personally to the community by making sure that you tell everybody you know that you are now in the real estate business and if they ever need your service, that you are available at any time. Starting with family and friends would be the first step in establishing personal contact and then word of mouth from those people you already know will be an excellent stepping stone. Sporting and community activities that you are involved in would be another form of personal contact where by you tell everyone in those set ups that real estate is your new career. Again, word of mouth from these establishments will help you greatly.

When talking to these people in the establishments described above; if you have a business card available with your contact details, then when these people are ready for your service, they have easy access to contacting you. Business cards would also be good for leaving in information centres, dairies and other retail outlets for customers to pick up when they are needed. If it is possible for you to hand out as many of these as possible, people have to remember you when the time comes for buying or selling a property.

Advertising yourself and your services for the property market is another excellent way of establishing yourself. Local newspapers are a great way to get your face and services available around, and doing this on a consistent basis will be of value. Other advertising techniques used could be flyers in letter boxes, radio advertisements, signage, and school and community or club newsletters. Just keeping yourself in the back of peoples minds is of great benefit.

The local primary school is running a fair or other fundraising venture and this would be the perfect time for you to provide sponsorship for these types of local events. Sporting clubs and organisations are always looking for some sort of sponsorship and by having your name as a sponsor ensures that you are seen and heard by the spectators and participants in these set ups. By sponsoring these types of events, your persona is proven to be a caring and trustworthy community member, here by leading people to think of you when they need someone to deal with their property.

At events like school fairs or community events, give-aways are a good idea also so that your face is seen when potential clients go home and stick their magnet on the fridge, their calendar on the wall, or use their note pad to jot down phone numbers. Just posting these in the mail or dropping them in letter boxes will be appreciated by the community. The feeling of getting something free that is usable can go a long way for a potential client.

Finally, a monthly newsletter sent out in the mail or dropped in letter boxes, along with your free gift, outlining all the open homes, properties and services you have available, will keep your clients and other community members up to date with what you have to offer. Contact details and photos of properties available should be something that is included within this newsletter.

By combining all of these methods and others not mentioned like open homes and door knocking, you will have the support of the local community and your name will be the first that comes to mind when a client decides to buy or sell a property.

So You Want to Start a Business

If you're thinking about starting a new business, then you must also be prepared for long hours and hard work. For a business takes time and patience, before you can reap in the rewards that it will bring in the long term. Never expect an overnight success, for if you expect that then your business will fail within the first year.

I have consulted with many clients, wanting to start a business. But they all have one thing in common. They had no goals, as well as a workable business plan. They all just assume that they could just have the idea and operate from there.

In the business world today, four out of ten businesses fail due to the lack of planning and attainable goal setting. Below, is a set of questions that I ask my clients when they tell me that they want to start a business. I then tell my clients to write a brief outline of a plan, providing the following facts:

Type of Business

Type of product or service being provided

Management strategies

And Marketing strategies

I then have my clients write an outline as to what their goals are as follows:

Where the business will be at one year from now

Where the business will be at three years from now

Where the business will be at five years from now

I then ask my clients if these goals are attainable. If they can easily answer yes without any hesitation, then they are then on their way to starting a business that will reward them in the long term. But any slight hesitation on their part, or if I feel that they need to rethink their goals, I will have them think about what they wrote as well as answered my questions at the beginning of our meeting.

So if you are thinking about starting a business, ask yourself the questions below and then make an outline of a business plan as well as goals. Then take a good long look at what you wrote. I'll always be around to help, just write to me.

Business Goal Sheet and Action Plan

What do you want this business to look like in five years? In ten years? When you retire?

If you did not have to worry about financing or regulatory approvals, what would you like to achieve with this business?

What role do you realistically expect your children or spouse to play in the business?

What do you want your business to be worth in five years? Ten years? When you retire?

How many hours a week do you work? How many would you like to work?

What would have to happen to allow you to work fewer hours?

What would happen to your business if you took a three-month sabbatical?

What would have to change in your business to allow it to survive if your were gone or disabled for three months?

Tips for Negotiating Vacation Time
