Make Money with Monthly Subscription Clubs in E-Commerce

Operating your own ecommerce internet site calls for more effort for the financial return. You have to get products, design and keep up the internet site, advertise, offer customer service, and box and transport product. One method to gain profits while scaling down work is to offer up monthly subscription products on your ecommerce internet site.

Merchandise

Not every ecommerce product impart themselves to monthly subscription club sales. Products that are consumable, like food, body lotions and fragrances, candles, and paper products are all fine alternatives. If you trade gift ware, you may like to establish collection monthly subscriptions. For instance, a few folks collect horses. If you've a lot of horse statues or additional ornamental products, you will be able to offer a horse gift of the month club subscription.

The Offer

If you stock single merchandises on your ecommerce internet site other than the monthly subscription clubs, it's a beneficial idea to play up these clubs as a exceptional buy. Like to how you'd declare a sale, use an attention-getting pictorial with a Thing of the Month claim nearby.

On the sales page itself, make certain to establish a illustrative pick of the things that will really be posted with the subscription. People prefer to know what they're buying. Also, make certain to tell the buyer why signing on for the monthly subscription club is a beneficial idea.

Sales

Maybe the most significant condition when advertising a monthly subscription club is how the buyer will pay. Calling for for the full sum up front will dishearten many folks. Formatting it as a real subscription where the buyer pays a special amount of money every month is ideal. The well-known online payment processor PayPal permits subscription payments.

Special guarantees are likewise crucial in subscription based ecommerce sales. Taking returns of the product if it's damamged or doesn't work is essential for positive customer service. Granting refunds on the subscription for that calendar month is the way to go. Besides, making it conceivable for the subscriber to delete their membership in the monthly club at whatever time will make them more likely to sign on in the first place.

Providing a monthly subscription gift club on your ecommerce internet site may be a sensible business choice for a lot of companies. As long as you've a type of merchandise that corresponds the monthly dispatch process, like something consumable, and furnish easy to accept purchase terms, you will be able to make cash with a monthly subscription gift club.

If It's Free, Why Do You Need my Credit Card Number?

Consider this as the first rule if you shop online for anything; every company that is in business is in business to make money. None of them are in business to give you something for nothing. Why does everyone seem to forget that, especially when getting that “something for nothing” off the internet?

The first red flag for me with respect to internet sales companies that are giving me something free; Why do they need my credit card number? It is free… right? Oh, now I see the small print. That is to cover the shipping and handling. I do thank you for offering to give me your product for free, but I think I can get it for less money than your “free” at Wal-Mart. Their shelf price seems to be less than your shipping and handling.

As consumers, sometimes we get wrapped up in the “free”, the “save”, the “sale” tagline associated with an advertised product that we tend to forget the bottom line; how much came out of my wallet, or my bank account, or how much was charged to my credit card? What did I spend? Believe me sometimes the “free” items cost the most because of the shipping and handling.

To me this would not be quite so bad if my day job was not as an accountant, a profession in which I try to make sense of numbers. The shipping and handling cannot be as expensive as the charge they want to lay on you for the “free” items they are giving you and you should be especially leery if they want to give you even more “free” stuff to go with the initial “free” item. That additional “free” stuff has an additional shipping and handling charge.

Here is an example of the shipping and handling issue, admittedly the merchant is not offering her product for free. She is upfront about the cost of the product… well, sort of. If you have ever watched the television add for Debbie Meyer's Green Bags you should stop to think about it before you buy the product. Debbie Meyer is selling you plastic bags! I believe she asks around $10.00 for ten plastic bags! Whether or not those bags are anything more than plastic bags is a subject for another column, one which I did write. For now, let's focus on something else… the shipping and handling.

Remember, Debbie is going to send you 10 plastic bags for $10.00 and charge you $7.95 to mail them to you. I looked in Wal-Mart; plastic bags are much cheaper there. Debbie wants to hit your credit card for around $17.95 and $7.95 of that is to mail plastic bags to you. Consider the weight of plastic bags and do some math on reasonable shipping and handling costs.

Oh, but wait! I just remembered she doubles the offer. I believe you actually get 20 plastic bags for $10.00. To be fair though, since she is giving you something “free”, you do have to pay additional shipping and handling. Here is my most important tip of the day; check the price of plastic bags at Wal-Mart before you order them from Debbie.

Are there some good buys out there? Yes, but there are far more “lure me in” advertisements than there are good buys. If the advertisement offers you anything “free”, let that be your first red flag. You are about to be fleeced. Rule number one no one is in business to give you anything free. If so, why do they need your credit card number; and believe me they all want your credit card number before you get the “free” item.

Over the past few years I have purchased several things off the internet and I did purchase one thing from a television advertisement. I knew what I was getting and that the amount charged for the item was a fair price. In all cases, I looked for the hidden costs, shipping and handling was the big one and I was actually able to get one merchant to cut the shipping and handling cost in half. Always ask them to do that! The test for me was whether or not I could get the product for less any other way. I could not, so I purchased knowing full well the “total” cost was reasonable.

So for those of you who are not yet convinced here is my offer; you can have my mystery/romance ebook, The Men's Room Attendant, for free, but you have to give me $4.99 for the shipping and handling, which is a download from my website. Ridiculous; yes it is. I am in business to make a profit, nothing is free! All of the other business websites are in business to make a profit too. Do the math on the true cost before you give out your credit card number.

Reviews of Three Online Shopping Portals for Small Businesses

There are numerous online advertising options available for small businesses. As stated in my earlier article, Online Shopping Portals for Small Businesses, using online shopping portals can be very beneficial. However, this presents a new problem: Which shopping portal (or portals) should I choose? Some small businesses may want to just use two or three of the more popular portals while others may want to explore all available options. Either way it can be difficult to choose which portals to start with. Ultimately, a business will have to use trial and error to see which shopping portals work best with its product line. For starters, I have listed three of the shopping portals that I use along with a brief review of each.

Google Base

This choice should be a no-brainer for any online retail business. Why? Because it's free! All that is needed for Google Base is a Google account and a product feed. They provide numerous tutorials and their interface is relatively easy to use. Further, by starting with Google Base you can get acquainted with how product feeds and shopping portals work without worrying about cost. Just make sure you upload your product feed each month or your products will be removed and they will have to be re-listed.

Pros: Free, Simple, Educational

Cons: Tracking sales can be complicated

SortPrice

SortPrice is also a good choice for any online retail business. What sets SortPrice apart is its flat monthly rate. It does not charge per click like most shopping portals. Instead, merchants pay a flat monthly rate based on the number of products they wish to sell. In addition to this, SortPrice regularly rotates their results on a given category page. There is no worrying about bidding and placement. They offer more of a level playing field where the online retail giants and the small-time “mom and pop” businesses can sell together in harmony. They have account representatives to help you set-up and maintain your product listings. Plus, they can take product feeds from other shopping portals so you don't have to make a new one just for them (unless you want to).

Pros: Flat rate, Account reps, Good online presence

Cons: Little control over placement.

PriceGrabber

Of all the shopping portals I have used, PriceGrabber is by far my favorite. It is a little more complicated to get set up with them and their merchant interface isn't the best, but they provide results. I have a dedicated account represented that emails me regularly and calls me periodically just to check in and see how things are going. Just like any other portal, PriceGrabber has a number of sub-portals where they list their merchants' products. After my account had been going for a while, my account rep took me out of some of the sub-portals that were not doing so well for me and my conversion rate more than doubled. By far, my conversion rate with PriceGrabber is higher than any of my other shopping portals.

Pros: Great service, Good presence

Cons: Getting started my be slightly more complicated than other portals.

Technology: E-commerce

The history of e-commerce dates back to the 1970's. With the start of EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), these programs allowed companies to facilitate commercial transactions electronically. Throughout the 1980's the e-commerce, orELECTRONIC COMMERCE, started to grow even more. With this growth came even more acceptance of credit cards and ATM's (Automated Teller Machines). By the 1990's e-commerce ERP systems (Electronic Resource Planning) was introduced, as well as data warehousing and data mining. *Data Mining is the process of sorting through large amounts of data and picking out relevant information.

The history of e-commerce dates back to the 1970's.

By the mid 1990's popularity of the Internet grew. By 2000, many US and Western European companies began to emerge on the World Wide Web. With this emergence came a new meaning for e-commerce. Unfortunately, during 2000 many of these e-commerce businesses disappeared with the dot-com collapse. Even though the Internet was being used by the general public now, the largest transactions of e-commerce were B2B (Business 2 Business). This all took place by the end of 2001 and translated into nearly $700 billion dollars in transactions.

In 1994 Amazon.com, Inc had begun. Founded by Jeff Bezos and launched by 1995, the company started out selling books. To date, Amazon.com, Inc has added many other products to its line. Some of these products are DVDs, MP3s, CDs, Furniture and much more. As one of the founding e-commerce companies, Amazon.com, Inc has revenue of US $14.84 billion and a net income of US $476 million as of 2007. By 2007, Amazon.com, Inc has nearly 17,000 personnel working for the company.

In closing, the effect of e-commerce can be seen throughout our everyday lives. Whether it is in the form of ATM's, online banking, shopping or credit card transactions, one thing remains the same... e-commerce in a sense has made our lives easier. From a business stand point to a consumer view, e-commerce has developed into a technology of endless avenues. As our lives push forward and grow, so does this technology. E-commerce is the future and will continueto impact us as we continue to shop, bank and spend our hard earned cash.

14 Tips For E-Commerce Success

Begin with a specific goal in mind of what you are flipping for. Some people enjoy selling online because it helps them support their own online shopping habits. These people get really good at comparison shopping when they buy gifts, electronic gadgets, and collectibles and realize that they can make a profit by reselling the products they like and raising the price on their website. Well-known comparison shopping sites are: Pricegrabber , MySimon , and Bizrate

If you plan on selling online to start earning extra monthly income, don't plan on quitting your day job any time soon! Educate yourself about the various auction and online selling websites on the Internet and start slowly. Have a 30 day plan of how many items to list per week (start modestly!), then a 60 day plan, then a 90 day plan, and so on.

Have a minimum profit margin (ROI) or dollar amount you want to get back per transaction. A lot of times, you will hear so-called e-commerce gurus say they made $20,000 a month selling stuff online and then they try to convince you that you can do it in a month! What they don't tell you is how much of that revenue did they get to keep? Know EXACTLY how much profit you make on each item you sell. The littlest cost can eat into your profit (shipping, packaging, stamps, etc...)

Seek trends, seasons, & price points for hot products in different categories. Stick with one or two products you know really well. Find out what is the most people are willing to pay for it (buyers love collectibles or exclusive editions of something) and work that niche to death. Realistically, your top sellers will typically be one or two items in a very specific category.

If you start noticing some items selling more than others, sell the ones that sell and STOP trying to sell duds! This may be common sense, but you would be surprised with how many sellers do not follow this tip because of their brand loyalty or it's their favorite product and they think EVERYONE should love it as much as they do. Just because you like it and would buy it doesn't mean everyone else will. Or at least not from you.

Always get tracking information and insurance for packages you ship. As reliable as shipping companies are, they still can make mistakes every once in a while, and the customer can receive their item damaged, late, or not at all. Also, there are some scrupulous customers out there that get their package and tell you they haven't received it and they want their money back. If you do not have proof of shipment or insurance to back up your story, you are going to have to eat that cost.

Make a paper trail for each transaction and keep receipts for everything related to what it took to ship and package your items. Even though most seller websites can track your transactions online, you should have a printed copy of receipts, invoices, bank statements, shipping forms, etc… This information is your backup in case online data gets “lost”. You will also want to use it to manage your bookkeeping and at tax time.

Double check comparing apples with apples. Oftentimes, shoppers are very specific about the kind of product they want to buy online, and the wrong SKU or Model number can mean headaches with returns, complaints, etc...

Have enough cash flow for purchases, shipping, and handling. This is a common misnomer for first-timers and even experienced e-sellers. Just because you make a sale, doesn't mean you have time to wait for the money and then ship. You should already have a system in place that is ready to make the purchase or ship the product immediately so you will garner a good reputation.

Have at least 2 or 3 reliable suppliers to fulfill your orders. If you are a drop-ship flipper, you need reliable, consistent sources of wholesalers that can ship out what you sell quickly and have great customer support in case things turn sour with your customer. Good wholesale reseller sites are: Worldwide Brands , and Doba.

Do your best to deliver any order within 4 to 14 business days nationally. Why the time window? Because depending on how remote your customer lives, it is entirely possible that it will take that long to reach them. As a general rule, even the US Postal service second class can get your package somewhere in 2 weeks. If the package is international, you can allow yourself 21 days. If longer than that for any package, you need to contact your shipper and give them the tracking information. If it is lost, refund your customer as soon as possible and get your money back.

Have backup internet and email access. If you are the average user, you probably only get on the internet 1-2 hours a day, but a serious seller will constantly need to be in communication with customers or potential customers. If you do not have reliable service at home, have a way you can get on the internet at least during normal business hours.

Have multiple e-commerce identities. If you are planning on becoming a Power seller (generating thousands of dollars every month), you probably have multiple identities and websites selling your products. Learn the best way to market yourself and your products so they will buy from you and not the next guy.

Wait at least 24 hours from the time an order is made to ship that item. I may get a lot of flack for this tip, but I have found in my experience a few buyers who change their minds after they make a purchase - it is usually because they find a better price elsewhere, or have buyer's remorse. In order to save yourself the time and effort and headache of having the customer send you the product back, wait and see if they want to cancel their order.

How to Create an E-Commerce Site

What You Will Need

$100

HTML editor (preferably Dreamweaver)

Steps

Sign up at forums.digitalpoint.com, and paypal.com if you have not already done so.

Visit hostgator.com to purchase your domain name and sign up for their hosting baby plan. This will cost you $15-25 to start out.

Go to the Business section of DigitalPoint and navigate to Design, there you will have a template built. For my first website I paid Adrian $60, and was very pleased with the results. However, you can also choose to have one built by one of the less skilled designers for about $10. Make sure that you describe the theme of your site to the designer so the colors are appropriate for your niche.

You will need to have the designer “splice the PSD” for you if you do not own a copy of Adobe Photoshop

You will need to take the template and modify the text and links to create your index

From there, create and link each of your pages:

A Links page for link exchanging

A Purchase page for customers to select their item(s)

A Contacts page which will contain your information

A Products page which will give detailed info about the product you're marketing

Ensure that as you are creating the homepage text you use your targeted keywords to maximize SEO (search engine optimization). Good search engine rankings will dramatically increase your sales. Remember though that it is important that you do not just spam the keywords, you need to entice your viewers into making a purchase.

You will need to log into Paypal and upgrade your account to a business account so you are ready for sales

Create buttons via Paypal for your specific item prices to make checkout easier for your customers

After the buttons are uploaded to your purchase page, you are ready to begin drawing viewers to your site. Firstly, you will want to link exchange with similar sites. You will want to visit the Link Exchange section of DigitalPoint and create a new thread offering trades with the links page of your new site.

You will want to pay for PPC (pay per click) advertising to your website as well. This can be done by singing up at one of many affiliate sites (especially adsense.com) and choosing good keywords for your ad.

Visit Google and Yahoo and upload your site to their databases. Http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html http://www.google.com/intl/en/submit_content.html

To protect against Internet fraud you will want to call your customer's Paypal phone number before shipping your product

Lastly, you will want to befriend your local banker. . . there still may be fraud if you are dealing with virtual commodities or the like. He can help you if things get out of hand, as what often happens.

Be prepared for the orders to start coming in; if you don't deliver quickly don't expect to receive many more, even with all of the advertising and development

Ebay Feedback Manipulation

Ebay, the highly successful online marketplace, is very well known for the huge number of transactions that are conducted on a daily basis. All of these transactions are graded on a daily basis as well, in the form of a feedback rating system. This feedback policy has been in place since the beginning of eBay and it is what drives all business managed on the site.

Feedback can be entered at the option of each member for either party involved in any transaction. For example, if a buyer purchases an item on eBay and pays promptly, the seller will normally give positive feedback to the buyer. The same circumstances apply when a seller sells an item to a buyer. If the buyer feels positively about the transaction then he or she will reciprocate with positive feedback to the seller.

Positive feedback is a win, win situation for all parties that are aggressively trying to do business on eBay. The more positive feedback that is received, the better your reputation and the more likely you will be able to enter in many successful business transactions on the site.

Negative feedback, on the other hand, may result from many things. For a few examples; a seller may not ship as quickly as the buyer would like, or the actual item received is not like it was advertised online, or the merchandise was damaged in shipping. A buyer may not pay promptly, or their method of payment may not be satisfactory. Another case of negative feedback may stem from the fact that one party will give the other party negative feedback, so then the second party will give negative feedback in return.

Feedback extortion is also known to happen. One party may want more or different merchandise that is not currently offered in the sale and that party may threaten with negative feedback in order to get the merchandise that they want.

Negative feedback is deadly to your reputation on eBay. You may have many positive transactions with a wonderfully high feedback rating, and then one negative feedback can drastically harm your reputation eBay's former policy was that negative feedback would affect your reputation for the term of your membership. In their latest change in policy, eBay states that negative feedback will affect your reputation for one year. In most cases, a high feedback score is a good sign, but eBay warns that members should always check another member's Feedback Profile to read comments and look for negative remarks.

Here is how the positive and negative feedback ratings affect your overall feedback score:

+1 point to your Feedback Score for each positive comment and rating left for you

No points for a neutral comment and rating left for you

-1 point to your Feedback Score for each negative comment and rating left for you

As you accumulate more positive points, you are awarded different colored stars. Following are the different levels of stars that are awarded:

Yellow star: 10 to 49 points
Blue star: 50 to 99 points
Turquoise star: 100 to 499 points
Purple star: 500 to 999 points
Red star: 1,000 to 4,999 points
Green star: 5,000 to 9,999 points
Yellow shooting star: 10,000 to 24,999 points
Turquoise shooting star: 25,000 to 49,999 points
Purple shooting star: 50,000 to 99,999 points
Red shooting star: 100,000 points or more

Some members who are trying to build their reputation on eBay by acquiring the different levels of stars will specifically look for transactions that are easy and cheap to complete. A cheaply priced item, with free shipping, or greatly reduced shipping will be very attractive to them. They can easily score another positive feedback rating without having to spend too much to do so.

Digital items that can be downloaded are another way for them to achieve higher feedback ratings at little or no cost.

“Digital goods are often reproduced at little to no cost to the seller. On eBay, this creates the potential for feedback manipulation. To preserve the integrity of the feedback system, all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically (including e-mail delivery) must be listed using the Classified Ad format in the Everything Else>Information Products category only.”

eBay has specific guidelines set in place in an attempt to thwart feedback manipulation:

“Feedback left or received, including detailed seller ratings (DSRs), where the feedback's primary value is to artificially enhance a member's reputation rather than provide commentary and ratings on genuine transactional experience is not permitted.

Consequently, offering to sell, buy or barter feedback is not permitted. In addition, registering multiple accounts (or working with others) in order to exchange feedback to artificially increase your feedback score is not permitted.

EBay will view the recurrence of listings which are uncharacteristic of a reasonable business model to be in violation.”

Violation of eBay's feedback manipulation policy may result in the following actions:

Listing cancellation

Limits on account privileges

Account suspension

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

Loss of PowerSeller status

Feedback removal

Buy Web Traffic to Generate More Profits

E-commerce sites draw profits from web traffic. Without a good volume of visitors, your web site will be inefficient though it is well-developed. To reap a good harvest from investing in a website, you need to exert efforts in tugging in visitors. The simplest way of earning a traffic volume is through buying them with the use of tools on the web like the search engine marketing (SEM).

For sure you have notice ads that pop at the top or right corner of a search result page after you completed a search in different search engines. Websites own these ads and they owe from these search engines every time a user clicks on this ads.

Making use of SEM to draws in leads has a great advantage. Aside from being free from initial charges, you can control your advertising expenses. Your ads are featured only to potential buyers who have high level of interest on your product or service since they have keyed in the same keywords you chose for your site. Users are directed to your site once they click on your ads.

A jumpstart of search engine marketing with the widely-used search engines will be more productive. Register with the giants on the web like Google, Yahoo!, MSN and Ask.com and they will accept ads regardless of your business size. Furthermore, you can take advantage of their keyword suggestion tools at no charge to improve your keyword list. Just be wise in choosing keywords that can appropriately describe your site.

Stick with your budget when having an SEM campaign. Indicate your rate for every click of your ads. With Google, cost per click (CPC) ranges from $0.01 to $0.50 depending on the keyword. You will be free from overcharges of search engines with this strategy. To set up your rates, just log on to your account to indicate how much you will pay. Just be sure to indicate also your payment method. Search engines are paid through credit cards.

For your ads, compose a striking message. Internet users are most likely to click ads that have caught their attention. However, guarantee that you use words that best describe your web content. Experiment with various ad designs and messages and change it periodically to keep it fresh. With this, viewers will not be spoiled of the same thing they see. You can also refer to ads of the same keywords as your sample. You can copy those ads but up to 70 characters only.

It is always a wise idea to keep track of your SEM campaign to be updated of your ad charges, profits, and web hits. Search engines like Google has free tracking tools to help you do SEM monitoring painlessly. All you need is a short HTML code and you can have power over your ad campaign.

Otherwise, if your schedule cannot make you do the task in your own, you can ask the hands of a number of agencies to run the ads for you. The good thing is, they can do it for free. If you need one, you can always ask the any member agency of Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) to give you the best deals.

If you will not speed up in the express way of search marketplace, certainly, you will be left out. Make use of the latest strategies available on the web.

Launching an SEM campaign needs you to consider essential things to make it worthwhile. Be sure to have a well-prepared web site. To generate a larger volume of web traffic, keep your Cost-Per-Click and Cost-Thru-Rate competitive. CPC refers to your maximum amount you can pay a user's click while CTC refers to the frequency of your ads to be clicked. Remember, search engines feature ads according to the paying ability of the site owner. If you have a higher rate, the tendency is that your ads will pop first.

Advantages and Disadvantages of E-Learning Management System

Communication forms a major part of our lives which can be enriched by sharing information. E-learning management system must be set up effectively with the help of domain experts and professionals so that the correct representation of information can take place. On the other hand, security and quality consideration is very vital in e-learning. It is a priority as any form of abuse would affect quality of the content. Special care must be taken with regard to knowledge depository so that it can be successfully implemented in practice to render effective services to masses for their prosperity.

Introduction

The world is fast entering the Information Age. Transactions and commodities may be packaged through data. There is a disintegration of the concrete to give way to what is abstract and digital. The digital and information for that matter are equally shaping and determining the contemporary world.

Paul Jackson, Lisa Harris and Peter M. Eckerseley (2003) believe that any business in the world today cannot survive without Online services. Online services are essential for its role in making communication convenient and cheap significantly. It allows information transfer in an efficient and fast rate. Cost is reduced and communication is even improved and disseminated better. Online services made it possible for people in great distance to be closely linked together and allow them to truly convene with each other. Transactions and agreements can be arranged swiftly without having to spend much. What online services bring however, is a new way of operating and managing a business, and that is through data transfer. In this new approach to business, one may expect similarly, a can of new problems and issues that the e-commerce organization must decide to confront.

The two authors differentiate E-Business from E-Commerce. E-Commerce is strictly focused on the selling and buying of goods online. This includes the materials and tools that assist such transactions. E-Business in the meantime is more broadly, the use of electronic data and gadgets in the transmission of information used in business. This includes the usage of devices and databases. It is more centered on man's usage of the many machine and data benefits and advantages in the operation of a business.

The adoption of a digitalized approach in business procedures however has its own pitfalls. Communications arranged in a digital environment would certainly lessen personal relationships and reduce the participation of human elements. Internet communication is complex and will not be comfortable to the inexperience. It calls for a new approach to communication that relies on computer languages instead of the basic telephone alternative.

The Internet is an open environment that may be used by anyone with a computer and a modem. Therefore transactions must be made secure from outside interventions. Security is very fragile as users capable of data manipulation in the Internet may just as easily do so unless steps are undertaken against fraud among other threats. An open environment would also mean that it would cater to all computer users in the world allowing the electronic medium to be the universal means of communication. Internet allowed the bridging of the gaps that has been limiting individuals to gain access to a larger network of market and opportunities. The Internet continues to expand daily as web sites are continuous in their erection.

The biggest issue of Internet transaction and communication is trust. This is a necessary ingredient in the completion of business agreements. They are the medium and the connection of which two parties arrange bargains and settlements.

As part of e-based business development in the current era, E-learning becomes essential. Actually, e-learning is not only for staff in which their companies are engaged in e-business practices but also to any individual who wanted information from the electronic medium. E-learning occurs in businesses, schools, health organizations and others.

Perceptions

In lieu of the present developments in society, there have been significant visions of learning that evolved. A majority of these learning visions are based on the idea that learning is a social process where knowledge is denied instead of being acquired passively. Learning, then, transforms into an interactive process. The interaction is being verified through the help of the participants in the learning process such as instructors and learners. In this framework, high quality of education would mean the continued guidance and support of the active learning process of every learner. Obviously, this would call for an intensive and phased guiding strategy.

Due to the current development in technology, the recent flow of information would definitely make learning easy for every individual who desires to do so. In addition, it sustains the need for systems capable of storing and handling this information. The growing impact of information technology (IT) fits in with the larger transformation towards a knowledge-based society. Most professional environments are already being adapted to IT. Being able to handle e-mail and databases is necessary in the professional world. Nowadays, technicians are more and more using artificial intelligence systems in order to determine and solve problems (Ferraiolo, 1992).

In line with this development, a certain survey was conducted to determine the advantages and disadvantages of e-learning system. Basically, 30 respondents were asked pertaining to the said system and 30% of them are system administrators. Based on the results of the survey (see appendix A), it is found out that majority of the subjects agreed on each statement. According to them, internet technologies provide learners interactive environments. Basically, internet technologies provide learners authentic environments as viewed by the majority justified by 4.10 mean responses. Based on the perceptions, e-learning enables learners to actively search for and explore solutions instead of receiving standard interpretations and construct their own knowledge. Most of them also believed that e-learning increases the motivations to learn and it offers updated information to help learners solve real-life problems. It also fosters better collaboration between learners. The 4.27 mean response also shows that majority agreed on the statement that internet offers a worldwide learning environment that makes distance communication fast and affordable. As seen in the paper of ChanLin, L. J., Huang, R. F., & Chan, K. C. (2003) and from the survey result, e-learning actually built up cross-cultural cooperative groups since it contributes to the development of a person's social skills and relationships with others.

As part of the disadvantages of e-learning, Pantazis, Cynthia, 2002 stated that e-learning actually affects the training procedures within a certain organization. From the survey majority of the subjects responded that the training time is significantly reduced. According to them e-learning also increases the possibility of copyright infringements.

In addition to the survey results, the administrators of an e-learning management system were also asked. The summary of survey results are presented in Appendix B. From their perception, most of them agreed that E-learning management systems improve software control, enhance deployment and data management, minimize memory problems on the user desktop, increase scalability and of course the systems maintenance is easy to conduct. In spite of these advantages, majority of them also agreed that in some occasions e-learning management systems shorten implementation times. Actually, one of its drawbacks pertains to the quality of learning in an e-learning environment which is sometimes sacrificed since there is a high security risk in the system. Moreover, startup costs, including hardware, software, staffing and training, can be very expensive as viewed by the administrators. Aside from this, majority of them also believed that e-learning management systems are prone to viruses and hacking and generates resistance.

Discussion

In business context and as for example, Cathay Pacific Airways invested more than $250 million in e-business, and a part of that change in the company's strategic direction was to implement an e-learning environment called the “Learner's World”. The e-learning environment would help Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific deliver learning to more than 14,000 employees. Graham Higgins, the manager of the Learning and Development Group at Cathay Pacific, said that the training function at the company is made up of eight physical training centers, which are autonomous, with each training center based on a different department. The focus of the program is to ensure that employees reach high levels of professional performance as well as to build a culture of innovation and collaboration. In addition, when the airlines started focusing on its e-business strategy, it also began implementing its e-learning strategy within the company to build the airline's learning management system. It manages the employees learning process, from enrolling learners and tracking their progress through delivering tests and reporting costs, and through Learner's World, the airline employees have open access to a wide range of learning options, from online tutors and virtual classrooms to in-class training (Hollis, 2006).

Moreover, this program will be beneficial for the airline's employees for the design of their learning experiences are consistent with the service experiences for their customers, such as their choice, control, customization, and community, and have reengineered every aspect of employee experience the company can leverage, including their benefits, performance management, career development, learning, and many others. It also defines a culture of self-responsibility to get courage to innovate and openness to collaborate, for a more effective communication and success (Hollis, 2006).

This strategy of Cathay Pacific is surely beneficial for the company, for the program will not only add learning and knowledge to the employees, but also enable them to communicate effectively with each other. In this type of industry, communication is one of the best strategies to develop and improve, for without effective communication, it would be hard for the company to function. In addition, with effective communication brought about the program, the company can ensure that their employees have the first hand information in training and development, which would be useful in rendering services to their customers. With the use of the program, the company can properly and effectively assess and evaluate the need for improvement in the company, such as identification of internal and external problems, conceptualization of marketing projects and plans, and implementation of new production strategies and regulations. Moreover, with the e-learning program, the company can effectively apply some key strategies related to advertising, direct marketing, promotions, public relations, sales and online marketing. With advanced technology, the company can endorse and introduce their innovations more openly to the consumers, which would lead to increase in sales and profit of the airline company.

Conclusion and Recommendation

The recent flow of information would definitely make learning easy for every individual who desires to do so. In addition, it sustains the need for systems capable of storing and handling this information. The growing impact of information and communications technology fits in with the larger transformation towards a knowledge-based society. Most professional environments are already being adapted to e-learning. Being able to handle e-mail and databases is necessary in the professional world. Nowadays, technicians are more and more using artificial intelligence systems in order to determine and solve problems (Ferraiolo, 1992).

Apparently, the new vision of learning as well as the developments mentioned cannot be isolated from the organization as a whole. Learning processes among organizations are being influenced by the interaction of two major factors. On the one hand, the instructional factors: the learning concept and its conversion into didactical ideas. On the other hand, organizational factors: the staff, infrastructure and organization policies related in this area. It is obvious that organization must possess a sound vision of staff policy and the efficient use of the operating budget in order to effectively perform its role in society.

Nevertheless, these organizations policies need an interaction between both factors. This is because in order to respond to the new visions of learning, these organizations will eventually transform into a model together with the various aspects of the e-learning environment. In return, organizations engage in e-based development will have to continuously monitor their limitations and along the process introduce innovations.

On the other hand, the source of an appropriate model of e-learning systems must lie with the potential to foster skills that are transferable to new situations and thereby relevant to us all in the society in which people live. This must imply that specific bodies of knowledge and skills are not fundamentally taught as ends in themselves but contribute to the means by which pupils may engage in creative decision making and whereby outcomes to projects are made in order to make visible and test that decision making.

It is seen that there is considerable commitment to the view that the capabilities that this educational process has the potential to foster are transferable to new situations if our teaching aspires to encouraging pupils to be increasingly "self-conscious" about how they are approaching the challenges inherent in their projects. As the processes engaged in when "designing" are at the heart of fulfilling our aspirations for e-based learning for all, instructors must ensure that the challenges this necessarily implies are sufficiently open to allow learners to exercise their decision-making skills. In managing those challenges, however, teachers must ensure the risks are not overwhelming.
