Global Marketing and World Economy

The impact of global marketing affects all nations and the corporations within them as well as every citizen, working or unemployed, within their populations. In a world now working towards a global peace and prosperity, global marketing is inevitable. Statistics reflect the increasing popularity of the world wide web as well as the unlimited communications capabilities which allow us to conduct business and buy products and services either from a local business or from a market on the other side of the world.

However, the global market is chiefly responsible for stabilizing inflation rates in the European and U.S. arenas. One byproduct of global marketing is the development and implementation of the Euro dollar. Although it is result of globalization, it has effectively addressed the long standing issues of confusion and instability in the international trade market due to the continuous fluctuations of the scores of currencies existing in the world marketplace.

A significant slowing in inflationary trends has been noted during the last few years but many believe that the future will bring a series of setbacks as well. In The Grandfather Economic Report , Michael Hodges wrote that “in the 1990's the ( U.S. ) federal government created $2.8 trillion of new debt… more than created in the nation's entire history prior to 1990 ….and another $2.7 trillion since 9/11/01 .” Yet federal deposit income in China increases by roughly 15% each year and will have a serious impact on the U.S. national debt. An alarming loss of revenue due to increasingly disproportional balances of import and export trade between the U.S. and Asia will certainly plague America and Europe . This trend will be hard to reverse if changes in the trade balance can not be initiated. Most of these conditions resulting from the Asian policy that devalues their currencies compared to that of the dollar.

The impact of this policy on the US trade balance is most certainly negative. Devalued exchange rates have resulted in an increase in the number of dollars being sent to Asian economies. Statistics are beginning to reflect a deficit of funds returning to western nations from the global market due to trade block tactics such as high import tariffs discourage western import sales to the Asian market. The impact of this policy on the trade balance on Asian economies is that a continue trend of economic prosperity can be anticipated for these Asian nations. This trend, if allowed to continue, will also bring growth at successively higher percentage rates with each passing year.

As for how this policy will level of indebtedness of US households, businesses and Government, a continuation of this policy regime will undoubtedly result in a rise in debt levels for all, as set the stage for possible economic depression not only for the U.S. Government and global scale due to enormity of the global marketing venue. Immediate and viable initiatives must be utilized in order to prevent this threat.

Global Marketing and Regional Trade Blocs

Small businesses, mostly based in Western Europe and the Americas , are facing a great deal of hardship due to regional trade blocs. These trade blocs, like the one in the Far East, combines company interests and are many time created by a nation, along with their neighboring nations, in order to compete more effectively in the global market. Another reason for the formation of these blocs is to impose more substantial sanctions against nations with whom they are at war or whether they are simply competing with one another in the global market.

These “informal coalitions” have successful undermined a great many trade initiatives during the last few years. Although U.S. workers have seen a negative impact due to globalization, multinational companies which are based in North America have surprisingly prospered. Reversing this trend will require governmental and global scale cooperation and support.

Even though the landscape of small business positioning in the global market is bleak, the future can bring about a profound change. Governments must provide aid their resident small business by joining with peer nations to help them to form coalitions of their own in order to have a louder voice with venues such as the World Trade Organization. By doing this, small businesses can more effectively stand up to the new bullies on the block.

There are two main factors that are important to include in a global marketing campaign that are sure to promote success. These factors are global specific demographics and effective exposure.

When thinking in terms of global specific demographics, a great deal of insight can be gleaned from McDonald's restaurants. McDonald's has effectively addressed their global marketing goals by customizing their menus to accommodate the specific tastes of each of the 119 nations in which they now have restaurants. While inventories of merchandise can not always be modified, however, packaging is an alternative that can be explored. Advertising can be customized to appeal to the social morays of various global markets.

Effective exposure can be achieved in inexpensive ways on the internet. By setting up an “internet store”, a business can average an increase of 15% per year in terms of new customers as opposed to the traditional brick and mortar stores that only average an annual 2% in new customer growth. It is incredibly inexpensive to purchase a domain name and web space and with the unlimited global market exposure and the dramatic increase in growth that has been reported using this technique, internet stores and advertising are true bargains in global marketing. Use key words often in your content on you page so search engines will be more likely to list your site in a search result.

By using a little imagination, and by being aware to global marketing trends, demographics, your small business will achieve faster customer growth and result in increased sales.

With advertising concepts being developed with the global market place in mind, many corporations are developing products and services geared for international customers. This can be seen in the McDonald food chain.

Customized Menus & Restaurants

McDonalds has over 31,000 restaurants worldwide in 119 different countries. With this kind of distribution the demographic variations must be staggering. McDonalds is in the process of streamlining their restaurants to cater to the types of people who most likely to be customers in each individual nation. By tailoring their menus and restaurants to seamlessly integrate them into the social standards within each nation, they have succeeded in globalizing their corporation.

American Pop Culture

Social trends in America are being catered to as well. A number of restaurants are being remodeled so don’t be surprised if you walk into one and find that it looks completely different. The famous golden arches will become more slanted and have a more muted tone of color. A muted green color will be added to the golden arches as well. Menus are geared around each country's eating habits offering customized menus.

Modernized Interior Design

The interior will be divided into three distinct areas geared to attract multiple demographic segments of population. WiFi will even be available for the “Starbucks crowd”. Plasma TVs will be in another area geared for families by creating a dining area that is attractive every member. It will also continue to add healthier items to its menu, leaning more to chicken and higher quality ingredients
