Techniques Used in Advertising

Bandwagon

The bandwagon technique suggests that thousands of people patronize a product. It aims to make consumers realize that many are using a specific product so that they would also use it.

Scientific Experiments

This technique presents results of laboratory or scientific experiments to prove the effectiveness of a product.

Folk Belief

This technique is commonly used in election campaigns where a candidate is shown together with folk people, like the poor from the barrios, farmers, fisher folk, ordinary laborers—in short, the masses. Since the majority of the population belongs to this social stratum, more people tend to patronize products popular to the common folk.

Glittering Generalities and Hasty Generalizations

This technique presents a product in a “glittering” way such that consumers will be tempted to buy it. Even without proofs of any kind, superlatives like the cheapest, most popular, most effective, the best are used to promote a product. Many consumers readily believe these superlatives especially those who are unmindful or ignorant of the tricks of advertising.

Transfer Technique

This is the technique in which a famous person from a well-known group or organization endorses a product. The endorser lends or “transfers” his/her name to the product so that consumers will buy it. A variation of this technique is the testimonial in which a person or persons who claim to be using a product testify to its effectiveness and benefits.

The Power of Cesare Paciotti

The Cesare Paciotti spread I encountered drew my attention because of the femininity displayed by the model wearing the company's peep toed style heels. This advertisement is well driven towards attracting women who have a taste for heels and long to be noticed as sexy and desirable. Elements of it that gear you towards purchasing shoes from Cesare Paciotti include the attractive model, the camera's emphasis on the shoes, and the lavish gold room setting. The medium, close-up shot emphasizes the beauty of the heels. The long gold heel, the platform, the red bottom, the open toe, and the small buckle are all noticeable aspects that make the shoe unique and classy.

The beauty of the shoe is accentuated by the setting. The setting is a classy hotel room in all gold decors. The gold curtains are closed altogether to ensure maximum privacy. The bed, not yet undone in its entirety, is covered by a white down comforter. It has another layer of metallic gold blanket with white embroidery. The gold blanket just about matches the shoes, but the shoes bold out with the fire red sole. The lamp on the night stand is beige but has gold fixtures. It does not appear to be illuminated yet the girl is perfectly visible.

The woman is apparently in the room with someone else. There is reason to believe there is another person with her because of the strong gaze in her eyes and the two half filled red wine glasses unclearly seen in the background. She is maintaining eye contact with her companion as she lets her hair down. Her mouth and legs being slightly open go along with the idea of not showing too much, created by the peep toed heels she is wearing. This gives the viewer the sense that she is ready for “action.” She seems to be leaning forward on the bed, guiding her mate closer towards her. Her way to lead him is silent but direct due to the strong facial expression she is displaying. Cesare Paciotti details the love for her shoes by showing that she does not take the time to remove them. The model keeps them on because it allows her to feel arousing. Her long legs highlight the exquisiteness of the high class, elegant shoes.

Displayed in the bottom right corner is the name of the company, Cesare Paciotti, in bold white letters with a small dagger between the names. Cesare Paciotti is responsible for the exotic mood in the room. The company's merchandise is what made this woman look sinful. The dagger is an emblem of the company which comes to show how sinful and naughty a person can become when wearing their products. The idea created by the ad leads the consumer to believe wearing these shoes or any shoe from Cesare Paciotti will get you in a wealthy, classy room such as this one. Thoughts of who else can be in the room because of the two wine glasses roam in the mind of the consumer. It can be implied that she was taken to the apartment by someone she attracted by her beauty. Her beauty is greater because of the shoes she is wearing.

The color black is frequently seen in the picture along with the gold. The direction of the light shows dark shadows all over the model's body. The dark shadows resemble her sneaky, seductiveness. It also allows the shoes to shine through because of the contrast in colors. The darkness is a display of sin. Once again, the thought of how far did these shoes take this woman? The shoes are located on a bed therefore the thought of sex is an option. Her feminine assets are covered by the dark shadows which allow the mind to go wild imagining what may be in the dark. The little black dress is appealing to the eye. It is petite and only covers a small part of her body.

This is type of woman typically idolized by women. Women fantasize to be as thin and flawless as the women presented by Cesare Paciotti. The model in this picture can be described as thin, white, and tall, with light brown hair. The dim lighting in the room gives her a bronze look. Her eye brows are long and thin. They are penciled in black to concur with her black eye shadow. Darkness is revealed in her eyes although she has light eyes. Her lips appear to be naturally pink and plump. She is not wearing lipstick or lip-gloss. Make up was applied to give her high cheek bones. High cheek bones are unique and make a woman more appealing to the eye. It gives her an exotic look an average woman does not possess. She is wearing a set of earrings that can be either bronze or a dark gold. They are also a part of Cesare Paciotti's collection.

The targeted consumers for this company are the emulators and the achievers. These are the people that do not feel the monetary value of the shoe can compare to the significance of their looks while wearing them. They are the consumers who can afford shoes starting at the price of four hundred dollars. The passion they have for haute couture will drive them to purchase many of the items in the collection. The need to stand out with such dashy attire and be the lady all men desire is what motivates these customers to spend all the money necessary.

Utilizing a woman that is admired by both genders is the perfect strategy to make a company have high sales.

Marketing on Blogs: Key Points

There is someone around 60 million blogs on the web (Technorati, 2007). The majority of the sites only receive a few visitors. The top 100 blogs receive 15-20% of the visitors while the rest receive only a few.

Most of the bloggers aren't professional writers and journalists. That means they borrow the information from somewhere else and aren't necessarily liable for that information. Since most are not professional writers there is the possibility that the information they are offering is questionable.

Many bloggers are not the author listed on the site. “Ghost Blogging” is also fast becoming a reality. Let us say you are a company, a politician or some important person. You certainly don't have time to write on your blog all day. Ghost Bloggers are people who write your blog for you but don't put their name on it.

Bloggers can get more hits by having links. The more sites that link to a blog and from a blog the higher it gets on the page ranks. The higher the page ranks the more visitors it gets. Thus, writing articles, posting reciprocal links, and comments on other's pages helps significantly.

Some bloggers have monetized their blogs that include pay per click ads, banners, test links, business referrals, Google AdSense and pay per posts. Some blogs with a high public rating can make substantial amount of money per blog. However, most blogs don't engage in this type of marketing.

The key factors to remember when looking for blogs to advertise are public rating, nature of the content and visitors. The public rating represents the amount of links to the sites, the content relates to the topics on the blog (you don't want to sell business software on an pet site), and the amount of visitors (the more visitors the more that come to your site). You should consider the quality of the writing and the integrity of the writer. You don't want to put your information on a site that may damage your good name.

Nowadays, we are exposed to a lot of advertisements and we can find it everywhere - at billboards, banners and public transportations.

An advertisement is something that we use to advertise things, such as a notice on the wall, in a newspaper and a short film shown on television. As viewers, this information can encourage us to buy goods. The advertisement is usually effective, colorful and catchy to attract consumers.

The information must be organized very well and must be understood by all consumers and readers, because it contains complete details of the product. For example, it must contain the price, the ingredient and the expired date.</P

Why run after FREE offers

Mostly many people prefer to opt for the FREE Programs. As we know the most powerful word in the marketing dictionary is made up of just four letters: F-R-E-E.

We see in our daily life many advertisements on the T.V., Magazine, Newspaper or Hoarding mentioning "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" or "Buy X Article you will get Y Article Free" and so many such example one will come forward.

Mostly to boost or shoot up the sale this is the marketing technique to promote any product or services. But when doing this promotion word FREE is emphasizes more in the advertisement. To sell any items whether it is households, cars, flats, clothes, fashion items, furniture, durable or non-durables or anything whenever any manufacturer or dealer wants to sell they come with the scheme.

What this schemes mostly are buy one get one free or exchange your old T.V. for new with the discount in the price or buy newly launched T.V. and get DVD or CD player for FREE. Take another example for the sale of new cars. The car Dealers come up with fantastic offers, especially during festival seasons, like buy new car a get Insurance or Road Tax or Car Accessories for FREE. Exchange your old car for new and get Insurance or registration free. Not to mentioned about these items now a days there is offer if anyone purchase the land. Even if some one does is Life Insurance there are some Insurance Agents who are ready to do your policy by paying one to three Installment.

Every manufacturer or retailer or dealer who are dealing in any item sales knows very well that most of the people like the FREE stuff on their purchase. It is human psychology now a day that whenever they purchase anything they expect they should get something for FREE. Truly speaking the majority of the people can’t resist the word FREE. Mostly the word FREE goes hand in hand with any sales, whether it is Mall, Super Market, Dealers, Shopkeeper, Whole seller or retailer.

The market has been taking advantage to increase their Sale and boost the profit.

The traditional marketing the customer feels that he has saved some money by purchasing certain item and getting something FREE, which otherwise they would have to spend extra.

In the marketing point of view whatever any one offer with the tag FREE on it is actually not FREE. The manufacturer or Dealer has already included FREE item value into the selling price of XYZ item. After all every one is running their business for profits and they are not fool to throw away their money in FREE offers. It is Customer who is at the lost whenever one fall in love with word FREE.

This not in the traditional market, one will find such offers with the word FREE even in the Online Marketing. Many a time whenever you open any web page or email account you will find a banner advertisement “Click Here to Download the FREE Demo”. The word FREE either highlighted or blinking.

One will mostly find these lines with word FREE in it, not to mention why? It may be like one of the below:

Click Here to Download the FREE Demo Version

You may Contact us for a Price Quotation – It’s FREE!!!

Sign your Account for FREE!!!

Take a FREE tour of the Member’s Area for more detail.

Subscribe to our FREE Newsletter!

There are some webmasters gives the FREE offer to join their programs along with FREE sign up Bonus of $5 or $10. There are others who give FREE upgrade to the program if you refer certain number of member or surf for certain day’s non-stop.

The word FREE become effective and legal when someone get something, and if nothing then it is cheating. The Internet marketer mostly uses the above mentioned effective ways of introducing the magic word FREE.

Internet marketer mostly gives the FREE e-Books to promote their Programs, sites or anything else. One can use FREE e-Books as a promotional tool to carry their advertisement and built their reputation.

The e-Book, which is created, to be given as FREE should be related to ones product or services they are into. Once this is done they will have the advantages like, (a). The advertiser gives the legitimate reason, to use word FREE in their Advertising and Promotion. (b). The advertiser generates FREE publicity by promoting their product or Services via FREE e-Book. (c). The Advertiser built their credibility by way of useful FREE e-Book, which is relevant to their target market.

The advertiser should keep in mind that the content of the FREE e-Book should be useful and relevant to target the market. If suppose the advertiser promote Computers and related electronics products and giving away a FREE e-Book that contains Internet marketing articles base on Cars and maintenances then giving such e-book to the customer is of no use. The advertiser can hire for some to write and create the e-Books as per them, and this will help them to boost their sales and keep their credibility among the valid customers.

With the word FREE one can market anything, whatever the way they want and apply the strategy that works towards profitability. The marketing teams are always moves in this direction to grab and apply new FREE offers and schemes to increase the profit of their company.

After all any business is for profit and how to squeeze the profit from this waste competitive market is the real business. Anyone who can sustain in this competition is the successful businessman to grab the profits from their customers.

To sum up it is the customer who are always at the loss in this transaction, the advertiser/manufacture take their share in the form of profit. Hence the customer has to be awake and calculated minded before falling pray to word FREE and loosing their money for FREE offer and schemes.
