Marketing for Beginners: Co-op Marketing Techniques

In this article, the Co-Op marketing will be confined to the Internet, since some marketing techniques can only be applied on the Internet. Traditional real world Co-Op marketing partnerships vary too much to be covered in this brief Internet article.

Co-Op marketing is an agreement forged in person or sometimes by a chance encounter, to join forces and cross-promote each other's service, product or website. This can be accomplished in many different ways, but the most common approach on the Internet is when each partner in the agreement creates a hyperlink linking back to one another's website.

Another type of Co-Op marketing can take place if one or both of the marketing partners are bloggers or Internet content writers, as each of the partners could write about the other's website, blog, or service and establish a link pointing to their partner's website.

A type of Co-Op marketing that I personally enjoy doing, is to write about blogs, websites or businesses that are not in partnership with me, because in some cases I receive acknowledgment from those websites or businesses that I wrote about and you never know where this could lead in the future.

Depending on the type of Co-Op marketing that you are interested in partnering for, the costs could be totally for free or it could cost you, especially if your Co-Op marketing agreement includes joint paid advertising. Make sure that you understand the type of marketing that you are interested in getting involved with and read everything if any contracts are needed to be signed. Contracts really need to be looked over by a qualified attorney.

Co-Op marketing on the Internet could include joining a link-exchange that may include hundreds or thousands of other websites and webmasters whom have agreed to team up and cross-promote each other's websites and blogs from each individual's websites and blogs. Usually, link-exchange programs are not difficult to find using your favorite search engine and are equally easy to join. Some link-exchange programs do require a pre-determined number of visitors that each website currently receives or that the new websites must be completely finished, before the website is approved to join the network.

Organizing a Co-Op marketing partnership can be very easy to setup or very difficult depending on the size and scope of your marketing plan. Just be careful and avoid being rushed into an agreement, before you have had plenty of time to consider any offers.

Marketing for Beginners: Using Existing Offline Networks

One great way to market your online writing is to tell everyone that you know about what you are doing and hand them a business card that contains your pen name and website address where your writing can be located and read. The business card should be kept as simple as possible, only containing your name and the address of the website(s) that you have published your work(s) to.Anything more would defeat your overall marketing purpose - to attract an audience and to make an income to that which you love doing.

If you are employed and you are able to invite your fellow co-workers to visit your website and read your writings is an excellent marketing opportunity. However, always make sure that you have permission from your employer, before you ever start marketing your writing at your workplace. Some employers do not allow these kinds of self-promotions, but some still do and may allow you to do so on your own time, just as long as you have asked your boss in advance.

School and college students have an excellent opportunity to reach hundreds or thousands of potential readers by networking to the student masses that are attending their school(s). Passing out business card or posting flyers on public bulletin boards are great places to start, but attracting the attention of the student newspaper staff would be an even better place to get your name out there in a very big way. If handled correctly, then you might be news enough to get interviewed by the school's newspaper and have your website address published, so that the entire student body will have easy access to the information.

Church is another great place to meet great people and kindly introduce yourself and your writings to those people that you fellowship with each week. Do not go to church only to promote your work to other Christians, but wait until the service is over and maybe in the parking lot or out in the hallway you can pass the business card that you should always have on hand to pass out.

Pass out your business cards and/or flyers when visiting your bank or credit union, as these places will usually have a bulletin board, so bank or credit union members can post a flyer or business card for other member's to see. When visiting a local coffee café or eatery, then another good idea would be to leave a couple of your business cards laying near any computer bays or pay phones. Leaving a couple of business cards on the table or counter that you were sitting at is an excellent way to introduce yourself to strangers and you never know, some of them may actually become curious enough to visit your website and stay long enough to read your writings.

Word of mouth is the best form of advertising and these ideas are where it usually starts.

Powering The Blogosphere

The companies which are going to survive a rapidly advancing internet niche will certainly recognize the promise land in the blogosphere. A blog writer simply pulls it together as a finishing touch with social bookmarking and social media boasting 50 million or more blogs. The blogosphere and paid blogging is the new niche quickly being carved out by writers. Building links in the blogosphere is certainly a lucrative step in the right direction. And public relations departments and agencies can quickly spin a catastrophic event to reduce sales fall out for large corporations. In fact, in the United States, the federal government has even used blog writers to endorse the latest troop build up agenda by President Bush even if they do not realize it. Think about the online gambling legislation. Hardly a mention of the prohibition until it was too late and now even pro-gambling enthusiasts are ashamed to admit we missed it in respect to the change in banking laws. Now, shame and despair in addition to the adage 'Look back and miss the important point today” has left bloggers mute on the subject. Shock and disbelief that a Texan President would pass legislation that bans a cowboy game from his home state also leaves many of us mute. Don't let this same thing happen when your company or corporation comes under the watchful eye of the physical world. Remember what happened to Texas Hold em Poker/

An entire industry of gambling and a generation of online players were completely erased from existence thanks to governmental regulation of the banking industry which stepped forward to annihilate the online gambling world in the United States. Those websites were forced to unplug or go international as a result of the change in the rules governing the banking industry and the Department of Justice interference. Many international companies also went in the same direction and now cease to exist.

Clearly, you can't predict or manage the way the internet may impact politicians, banks or even how search engines might contribute to the troop build up in the war in Iraq. But, you can definitely spin it a bit by using popular opinion... What you must have is a voice on the World Wide Web if you are to succeed in today's modern marketplace where many consumers now buy and companies should be selling.

Clearly, I am a blog enthusiast, given the mention of a network of paid bloggers.

And yet understand that an army of bloggers must be accompanies by an army of readers, the good thing is many of the 50 million bloggers are also your consumers.

Right about now the peanut butter industry has real problems as does President Bush in respect to Iraq build up of troops. Of course, there is a work around for a lack of readership or even a lack of an entire blog and that is to hire paid bloggers. There are as many writers online as there are readers and consumers. It is a public relations pot of gold when handled correctly. For those of you who do not know the importance of a freelance writer & job hosting service, with no blog and no clue how you will handle a corporate blunder, imagine the costs associated with taking out a full page advertisement in every major newspaper in every city in the United States and around the globe. That is exactly the power the blogosphere currently has.

. But, many of you are amazingly out-of-touch with the fastest growing segment of the internet: the blog writer. The blog writer is a freelance writer in search of some type of revenue stream. And, where do you locate these blog writers?

Blog writers are exactly the same as every other freelance writer looking for work on the internet. And, now an evolution in the freelance project industry has separated the programmers, techies, coders and developers from the population of writers, optimizers, SEM, SEO and marketing professionals. Now it is easier than ever to locate exactly the type of writer and blog you need to get your message out to the masses. Visit such job boards as Community Boost.net and Script lance to discover the easiest recruitment strategy in the virtual world, the freelance job sites. Post your project for a minimal fee and percentage, the writers will then price their services and you select that which you believe the most quality for your money. Freelance writers are hungry for an opportunity to get paid and are absolutely plugged in and waiting to hear from you.
